Frequently Asked Physical Therapy Questions

You Have Questions? We Have Answers!

Q: My shoulder (or knee, back, etc) hurts. Can I call you directly if I haven't seen anyone else for it?

A: Yes! You do not need a referral from your doctor to start with us. Our physical therapists are experts at assessing your pain or injury and will help guide your care from the start.

Q: Do you only treat athletes or people in "really good shape"?

A: Absolutely not. We help people at all levels who either want to stay active or become more active - whatever active means for you.

Q: What happens on my first physical therapy visit?

A: Your first visit will be a very thorough assessment and give you a clear understanding of what your pain or problem is, what the plan is to get you back to your goals, and we will start treatment that day. Almost always you will leave with exercises and information to jump start your recovery roadmap.

Q: What makes you different from another physical therapist in or near Washington DC?

A: You won't hear us telling you that you need to stop running, working out, exercising because of your injury. We will work with you on how to stay as active as possible and get you back to doing what you love. You will always receive personalized, one on one care that gives you the best possible opportunity to recovery as quickly as possible.

Q: Why do you call yourselves performance physical therapists?

A: This isn't your grandmother's physical therapy. You won't find any wasted treatment time sitting with a hot pack or splitting your treatment time with other clients. Your visits will be individual to your problems, your goals and focused on what's most important to you.
